Walk Around Sunrise Mall Like It’s The 80’s | Monday, 15. January 2018

Considering the Dollar Cinema is closing down on the 16th, we might as well show the good ol’ Sunrise Mall some love! 80’s style dress is welcome and empty shopping bags for pretend is cool too! The more people we get to “shop” at this old mall the better. We need to make this look like a scene from The Legend of Billie Jean!

  • Aloha everyone! My Aunt has recently moved her Polynesian (Hawaiian) Dance Studio to the Sun Rise mall just a couple of month ago. The mall has asked her if we can put on a Hawaiian Performance for this event on Monday. We will be in the Center Court starting around 6 pm performing if everyone wants to check it out!
  • Go check out Dolly’s other location over at the food court on Carancahua Street!
  • Ok all of my photographers, I spoke with management and by the mall rules we cannot be doing any professional photography with setups. If you are going to be doing any photography with a DSLR, make sure to conceal it and only use it for that moment. If you are caught taking professional photography, you will be kicked out of the mall. Also, please please pleeeeease give the tenants of this mall some business! I have gotten terrible news that Orange Creations is no longer with us. Remember most of these businesses are pretty short staffed as well, so please don’t overwhelm them. If you see some of the staff struggling please don’t make their job any harder and lend a hand. This mall is in need of our help. My biggest concern is trash and spills. PLEASE clean up after yourselves. Janitorial services are also very low staffed, I would love for this mall to look the same as when we entered it. Thank you to everyone who is attending this. #thesunwillriseagain

  • I loved going to Diamond Jim's Arcade (was downstairs by Burlington entrance), 5,7,&9, Benjamin's, Corn Dog 7, Ray's restaurant, and that cool Hologram shop that showed Marilyn Monroe turning to blow a kiss and Elvis dancing with guitar. Good Memories!

  • My best memory was when Craig's record factory was open. When CDs were first coming out and there long *** packages. And when Sam goodie was there also, spencers. My dad would drop us off with 20$ and we were there all day, we would throw a walk kick it at Craig's then move on to the food court sip on some orange julius. Then move to the dollar cinemas see what girls were there and play games lol. Then make the way to Sam goodie and finally Aladdin's castle. This is when sunrise mall was better than Padre mall. I met my bestfriends at sunrise. It's a shame it's now empty, hopefully it will make it's return.
  • has anyone invited Pat Benatar?
  • In the 80's we called it the new mall. Lol. Sheila Weide Holliday Carla Weide Boehm. The old days. Miss it!
  • Who remembers Corn Dog 7 and Gilley's Recording Studio? Everyone would go try and make a record of themselves singing there. That was fun. My mom used to work at Corn Dog 7. Dollar Cinema was the **** too!!!
